Meyer Sound · ULTRA Family · Point Source

Big-room clarity. Compact footprint.

The ULTRA-X40 brings the technology from Meyer Sound’s flagship line arrays into a point source loudspeaker that weighs less than 55 pounds. It is also the first ULTRA model with GEN‑1 networking and processing built in. Wilson Pro AVL designs, installs and tunes ULTRA-X40 systems for sanctuaries, theaters and event spaces.

Why the ULTRA-X40

Line-array technology in a point source

Everything that makes Meyer’s big systems sound effortless, scaled into a box you can carry with one hand.

Concentric driver design

Two 8-inch cone drivers are coupled to a rotatable waveguide around a 3-inch compression driver. The result is smooth response across the whole range and pattern control down to 400 Hz.

Serious power, small box

A 3-channel Class D amplifier delivers 1,950 W peak while drawing just 1.3 A sustained at 230 V AC, all in a cabinet of 12.5 × 22 × 14 inches.

Two coverage options

The rotatable Constant-Q horn gives a uniform 110° × 50° pattern. For more focused coverage, the ULTRA-X42 narrows it to 70° × 50°.

Sophisticated onboard DSP

Built-in crossover management, phase and frequency correction and driver protection produce very flat amplitude and phase response, for tight transients and precise imaging.

Intelligent AC power

Meyer’s Intelligent AC selects the correct voltage automatically, suppresses high-voltage transients, filters EMI and soft-starts on power-up.

Rig it almost anywhere

A removable handle, 11 integral M8 points and a 35 mm pole cup. Multi-ply birch enclosure with a powder-coated steel grille, with weather protection and custom colors available.

Galileo Extended Networking

Networked and processed inside the speaker

GEN‑1 puts networked audio and Galileo GALAXY-class processing directly into the loudspeaker, reducing or removing the need for separate system processors. That means less rack gear, lower latency and centralized control.

  • Direct-to-network audio. Milan AVB, AES67 and analog inputs, with no converters or external processors.
  • Processing at the speaker. 10-band parametric EQ, U-shaping filters, delay, product integration and atmospheric correction.
  • Speakers that report back. Real-time system health and status through Meyer’s Nebra software.
  • Failover ready. Built-in redundancy options protect the signal.

GEN‑1 is also available in Meyer’s TIGRA, 1800‑LFC, ASTRYA‑140, USW‑121P and USW‑210P, and will be included in all new self-powered models.

Where it fits

Made for worship spaces, and much more

The ULTRA-X40 handles any portable or installed job that needs predictable, controllable wide coverage.

  • Houses of worship: frontfill, under-balcony and delay positions, compact mains for chapels and student rooms, and portable systems for events.
  • Theater and performance: musicals, concert halls and theatrical reinforcement.
  • Corporate and events: session rooms, portable A/V and small voice-reinforcement systems.
  • Clubs, festivals and venues: fills alongside larger arrays, nightclubs, theme parks and stadiums.

What the pros say

Trusted on Broadway and festival stages

“What’s amazing is you can go straight to a product like the ULTRA-X and realize that it can do all of this in such a small package… It ticks all the boxes.”Peter Hylenski · Sound Designer, Moulin Rouge! The Musical

“The new ULTRA-X40 with the 750 subs is an amazing combination… for its size and weight, the ULTRA-X40 is an amazing box.”James “Jimbo” Neal · General Manager, CenterStaging

“From a system engineer’s standpoint, the new ULTRAs were the perfect complement to each LEOPARD system. Tuning the out fill systems on both stages was quick and easy.”Dave Brotman · President, DBS Audio Systems

The self-powered advantage

No amp racks. No guesswork.

Meyer Sound has built self-powered loudspeakers since 1995. Putting the amplifier and processing inside the cabinet pays off before you even power up.

  • Faster setup. Fewer components and cables, and no matching amps to speakers.
  • Consistent sound. Amplifiers are factory-matched to the drivers, with built-in protection.
  • Better response. Precise active crossovers and time-aligned drivers remove phase issues.
  • Clearer and tighter. Short internal cables mean less loss and crisper transients.
  • Certified safe. Tested and certified by FCC, UL, CSA and CE.
